Herz-, Thorax-, Gefäßchirurgische Anästhesiologie und Intensivmedizin

Gastrointestinal motility disorders frequently occur during intensive care therapy for critically ill patients. A large number of factors and pharmaceuticals can influence intestinal peristalsis. In close cooperation with the Division of Pharmacology, our working group is dedicated to investigating the influence of drugs on the peristaltic activity of the small and large intestines.

Focus

The focus is on typical drugs frequently used in intensive care such as catecholamines, opioids and hypnotic agents. The main element under investigation is an experimental test setup that permits investigation of the direct effect of different drugs on peristalsis.
